Overseas Koreans Foundation Recruiting Participants for the 12th OKFriends Volunteer Group

The Overseas Koreans Foundation (Chairman Kim Seong-gon, hereinafter referred to as the Foundation) announced on the 2nd that it is recruiting 90 OKFriends (college student volunteers) in 2023 to participate in public diplomacy activities while interacting with the next generation of Koreans overseas.

The volunteer group will participate as an agent in various invitation projects such as "Korean Overseas University Student Motherland Training" conducted by the foundation to establish a network with next-generation overseas Koreans, and as a public diplomatic group with overseas Koreans, they will have the opportunity to experience the local Korean community directly or indirectly.

The foundation will accept applications until February 26, conduct an interview on March 11, and announce the final selection on March 15. Following this, the launching ceremony of the volunteer group will be held for two days from March 25th to 26th. National students and overseas Korean students who are currently attending (leave of absence) at a university (graduate school) in Korea can apply.

Applications must be submitted by e-mail (okfriends@okf.or.kr) by February 26, and detailed information can be found on the Korean Net website (www.korean.net).

The activity period is about 10 months from March to December, and a certificate of completion in the name of the chairman of the foundation will be issued to volunteers who have completed the activity. Kim Seong-gon, chairman of the foundation, said, "I hope that OKFriends volunteers will grow into global Koreans who will enhance their understanding of the overseas Korean community in the process of volunteering and public diplomacy, and contribute to the mutually beneficial development of their home country and the overseas Korean community." He revealed his will and vision to nurture talents that contribute to the mutual development of society, home country, and country of residence.
