Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation takes the lead in spreading Kimchi Day in the U.S. Expecting expansion of Kimchi exports
Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (CEO Kim Chun-jin) reported that the New Jersey resolution to enact Kimchi Day (AJR200) passed the New Jersey House of Representatives plenary session on the 26th, local time.
Representative Ellen Park of New Jersey, who led the establishment of Kimchi Day in New Jersey, proposed a resolution to establish Kimchi Day in December last year, passing a hearing on the Committee of Agriculture and Food Security in New Jersey on January 19 this year. In particular, the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (KAC) attended the hearing and explained the necessity of establishing Kimchi Day, contributing to the passage of the agenda and actively supporting it so that it could be presented to the New Jersey House of Representatives on the 26th.
‘Kimchi Day’ on November 22 is a legal anniversary established in Korea in 2020 to publicize the value and excellence of kimchi. As a result, since California first established Kimchi Day as an official anniversary in August 2021, Virginia and New York State in February 2022, and Washington D.C., the capital in June, have enacted Kimchi Day as an official anniversary.
Meanwhile, in line with the spread of Kimchi Day in the United States, in July of last year, a proposal to enact a Kimchi Day at the federal government level was proposed to the House of Representatives led by Congressman Carolyn Maloney, and the construction was officially launched on December 6 last year. The Library of Congress held a public relations event calling for the establishment of Kimchi Day for the first time, widely spreading the excellence of kimchi.
Kim Chun-jin, president of the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, delivered a plaque of appreciation to Representative Ellen Park of New Jersey, who visited the Federal Assembly at the time, and said, "We will spare no support to spread Kimchi Day not only in New Jersey but also across the United States."
