CU, the No. 1 in the convenience store industry, announced on the 3rd that it will operate a gift certificate transaction safe system to prevent phishing scams, which have recently emerged as a social problem.
Since 2020, CU has been conducting joint response activities with the National Police Agency and KACS(Korea Association of Convenience Store Industry) to prevent convenience store phishing accidents by sending messenger phishing warning screens and guidance voices to store POS machines.
In order to further strengthen phishing accident prevention activities in convenience stores, CU is starting from this month △Regular store training for accident prevention △Setting the payment standard value and anomaly alarm system △Strengthening store BGM for phishing information △Improving POS prevention notice pop-up implement etc.
CU plans to conduct phishing fraud prevention store training and guidance on a quarterly basis this year. Headquarters messages that are announced to all stores nationwide and related contents are regularly provided through CU School, a dedicated app that helps franchisees operate their stores.
Since last year, incentives have been provided to each store to encourage them to watch phishing prevention training videos, and SCs(Store Consultants), who are in charge of sales at the head office, have spread accident cases and provided training on precautions.
